For those of us who aren’t computer geniuses, thinking about all the different types of IT positions there are is mind boggling. There are varying degrees of expertise as well, and the higher a person moves as an IT professional the more complex their jobs become. For example, database administrator roles are very demanding, they require a knowledge in a variety of different IT areas to be successful. However, database administrators can make nearly 100K a year if they have at least ten years experience in the field of database administration. It seems like a great deal, especially for those of us barely making half that, but think about how often technology changes, how much work does it take to keep up.
