What Can Be Patented?
February 18th, 2008
This is probably among the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) get every day. Almost any invention that is not intellectual property litigation already on the market and/or currently carries a Patent can be patented. “Where can I look to find out what has already been patented?”
Look on the USPTO’s website is a good place to start. To know what you can patent; you need to know what is already patented. There are several databases online that carry pictures and descriptions of every single patented item available… including all previous patents for an item.
