PDF stands for Portable Document Format, and was developed by Adobe for simple document exchange. It was quickly adopted by the document imaging managementindustry because of the wide spread use of the Adobe Reader. There are 3 types of PDFs: Image, Text and Image with Hidden Text. The Image with Hidden Text gives you an all in one package if you want a searchable file. The newest PDF standard is the PDF/A, or PDF Archive standard. The PDF/A type will insure long term archival compatibility. It also sets a new standard for document imaging file formats and archiving.

These past few days I’ve been tasked with researching
Lean Manufacturing Methods for our company. So far, I’ve liked what I have learned.
Everything I’ve read about Lean Manufacturing Techniques has served to increase my interest. I think we’re capable of getting there.
Greater efficiency is always the best way to improve the bottom line, in my mind, because it can all happen inside the company. It doesn’t depend on anyone but ourselves.

Recently we were looking into a Documentum Document Management company for our every increasing need to organize our computers and filing system. We had checked out a few different companies and we were all set to hire one when we found a company that actually addressed us as a company instead of another client. They were able to deal with us and our needs as they pertained to our daily business details. Our company does not function like a lot of other companies out there and any system to help us get organized was going to have to be able to be flexible. But this program looked at us personally instead of like a computer.

From just a few years ago, it has really become apparent that fishbowl inventory software has really grown in its options and applications. The earlier version of inventory software that I worked with could not even touch the capabilities of some of todays more popular brands. The software on the market has the ability to update automatically and keep accurate inventory counts as well as the value of the inventory. Being able to integrate point of sale (POS) and touch screen options into a variety of businesses is fantastic. POS is not just for restaurants and retail anymore…I am always being amazed by new computer technology.

What with growing energy costs and other expenses, I’ve been looking into Lean Manufacturing Principles to see if we can improve our efficiency.
From what I’ve read about Lean Manufacturing Jobs, I think it could be worth the difficult adjustment in the end. It will be a tough road, though.
