In order to apply for a afsa student loan, you must begin by filing an FAFSA report. You can file this online, and receive a response from the Federal Government in a matter of weeks. While you are filling out the application, you will need to check off that you want student loans. You can also designate which lenders you want your information sent to, as well as the college you plan to attend. Once the college determines your financial need, they will send you a letter detailing your eligibility. From there, all you will need to do is sign up for classes, and file a loan application with your designated lender.
