Canadian Silver Dollars

Canadian silver dollars are coins issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. It is generally minted for commemorative purposes. The coin was first minted in 1935 for commemoration of King George V. A set of faint lines in the coin were engraved to represent the Northern lights. This particular design was used in the Canadian silver dollar until 1986. The Canadian dollar silver is generally 80% silver and 20% copper to make the coin durable. A new series of Canadian silver dollars is being minted since 2000.
